Vacation in the Bahamas

January 8, 2020

It’s that time of year! The holidays are over and you might be looking for a reason to treat yourself...and we have the perfect idea. What could be better than soaking up the sun while on vacation in The Bahamas?! Yes, booking vacations can be overwhelming and even intimidating, but we’ve put together the guide you need to read while getting ready to book a Bahamas vacation.

The Basics
When traveling to the Bahamas there are a few things you should know before visiting, the first of which is that English is one of the main languages of the islands - it is widely spoken. In addition getting around the islands can be fun due to all of the unique travel opportunities. You have the ability to take taxis, bikes, or even boats.

Time
We have some important news for you - if you are looking to book during the winter it is peak travel season for the islands. This has pros and cons of course. Some of the pros include that you might be able to score some awesome travel deals, and the islands will be teaming with activity and fun! A con, of course, is that it might be slightly more competitive for hotels and flights, and if you don’t like to be around people it might be a little too busy for you. If you’d like to visit during off-season, look at booking for April - July. Whether you book the vacation for this winter, or next summer, you should still treat yourself this holiday season.

Things To Do
The first step in booking your trip is to handle the flight and resort/hotel booking. Once you have the two booked, you should start to look at available activities - trust us, there are many! One of the best things about the Bahamas is that there is truly something for everyone. Here are some of our favorite activities:
  • Bonefishing: Bonefishing is fly fishing, but for bonefish. Bonefishing is a popular sport in the Bahamas, but most Bonefish are released upon capture.
  • Sightseeing: From swimming with the pigs at Big Beach and exploring the Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park, to enjoying Cocoplum Beach, finding fossils and seeing the Angelfish Blue Hole, add any or all of these stops to your itinerary this yea
  • Enjoying local cuisine: The local cuisine of the Bahamas is truly out of this world - trust us it’s worth a try! Any foodie will love exploring the local spots in the Bahamas. Check out some of our favorite restaurants here.

Ready to book a trip?! We’ve given you the five best reasons we can offer - short of getting a doctor’s note of course! Before booking at a typical resort, give Bonefish Drex a call.
