Why you should consider a massage, from your Exumas Bonefishing experts

Why you should consider a massage, from your Exumas Bonefishing experts
As you move to book your Bahamas vacation, you can certainly expect some quality rest and relaxation surrounded by gorgeous waters and weather. You can never have too much relaxation, and a vacation is the best time to treat yourself to some extra self-care! We recommend booking a massage with Nitza in the Exumas - you’ll get a great massage sea-side! But what are the health benefits of a massage, and why should you book a massage?

Stress
Massages can help to reduce stress, after all it’s a great way to get rid of some of the knots and tension you might have in your neck and back. You might not have much mental stress on your vacation, but there is a chance you could be experiencing some sore muscles after your vacation excursions.

Anxiety/Depression
While anxiety and depression will not be permanently healed through a massage, getting a massage releases endorphins which can help give you a sense of happiness, calmness, and provide some relief from your symptoms.

Circulation
Massages help to loosen muscles, and thus stimulate blood flow. Regular massages have even been shown to help improve circulation over time. Not only can a massage help to improve circulation, but they do help to relieve pain.

Improve Flexibility
As already mentioned, a massage helps to loosen muscles, which will ultimately lead to greater flexibility. While you might not be able to schedule a regular massage schedule with our massage therapist in the Bahamas, creating a lifelong habit after your Bahamas vacation will certainly help you stay flexible for years to come.

Help Injury Recovery
Have you recently suffered an injury before your trip? Or perhaps one during? A light massage can help assist in injury recovery and even help with the swelling you might be experiencing due to your injury. If you are utilizing a massage for this, please be sure to let your massage therapist know.

Additional Relief
It is thought that a massage can help with additional conditions and ailments such as:
Digestive disorders
Headaches
Fibromyalgia
Stress-related insomnia
Although it has not been scientifically proven to physically assist, many experience comfort, care, and relaxation through a massage which can ultimately provide some temporary relief for the conditions previously listed.

We are looking forward to seeing you in the upcoming months here in the Bahamas! Not matter what you decide to do on your vacation, we highly recommend a massage to help warp-up your long and relaxing vacation. No matter what you are looking for, Bonefish Drex can help. Not only can we provide you with a charter rental, but we can give you the sightseeing tour you are looking for. To learn more about our services, give us a call at 242-356-0243.

The best restaurants to visit while in The Bahamas

The best restaurants to visit while in The Bahamas
When you think of the Bahamas, your first thought might be the amazing weather, beautiful beaches, and gorgeous landscape. But did you know that the Bahamas also has some of the most amazing food in the Caribbean? Here are some of our favorite restaurants you should visit while docking your sailboat rental, in no particular order.

Max’s Conch Bar and Grill
This local roadside restaurant is casual, quirky, and well-known among Bahamian locals. The gazebo-like structure is covered in local flair including license plates, figurines, and local trinkets. Max’s Conch Bar and Grill is located near the airport, making it the perfect last stop before departure, or the perfect first stop when you are starting your vacation. Max’s is perfect for those who want to stay in budget, and even better for those looking to experience the Bahamas - local style.

Cricket Club Restaurant and Pub
The Cricket Club is perfect for those wanting to stay within budget, but also experience a more relaxed and casual environment. The Cricket Club Restaurant and Pub is laid back, and offers some delicious brunch and local Bahamian cuisine. Just remember to avoid this local spot during any English Premier matches - it gets busy! Unless you’d like that experience, then we recommend you make a stop!

Zorba’s
Love Greek food? Zobra’s is the place for you! This moderately-priced gem is well-known for their breakfast on the island, but they have other great food offerings as well. Including dishes inspired by American and local Bahamian cuisine. Don’t let their stellar breakfast fool you though, they offer equally good lunch and dinner offerings - at prices that you can get on board with.

Cafe Matisse
This one is the perfect restaurant if you are looking for a splurge while in the Bahamas, especially if you love Italian food. Located in Nassau, Cafe Matisse is surrounded by gorgeous scenery and has some of the best service on the island. When accompanied with perfect food, the ambiance in Cafe Matisse truly can’t be beat!

Xuma’s Restaurant and Bar
Located on a private island in the northernmost area of the Exumas, Xuma’s restaurant is another great splurge location. To get to Xuma’s Restaurant and Bar, you’ll have to charter a sailboat and sail to Highbourne Cay, but the trip is well worth it! The fresh seafood, and expert plating keeps locals and tourists coming back for more. Be sure to reserve a spot in this restaurant if you are taking more than six people - especially if you are looking for a spot on the open air patio.

In addition to the restaurants, there are many things to do while in the Bahamas. No matter what you are looking for, Bonefish Drex can help. Not only can we provide you with a charter rental, but we can give you the sightseeing tour you are looking for. To learn more about our services, give us a call at 242-356-0243. Bonefishing - The great Exumas vacation activity, even in windy conditions

Bonefishing - The great Exumas vacation activity, even in windy conditions
The Exumas is known for absolutely amazing weather, and when you have a charter and are ready to start your bonefishing adventure you can be worried about the potential for rain, or even wind. We do have some good news for you! You can enjoy your bonefishing trip even in the event of windy weather  - you won’t need to cancel! Here are some of our favorite tips to bonefishing in windy weather.

Careful with the Line
When it’s windy, be sure to be careful when casting the line into the wind. Plan your cast with purpose, wait until it’s relatively calm, and then cast the line. In addition, try adjusting your body before casting the line. Squat until you are almost parallel with the water, and cast your line to the side. This will help you cast the line at your intended target.

Choose your Accessories Wisely
The accessories you choose with your line will make or break your bonefishing when conditions are rainy or windy. Using a heavier fly will create an impact - it’ll break the water quickly and the line will sink deeper. All of which is essential in staying on your target. When it comes to accessories, we mean more than just the line - clothing too. Durable jackets/clothing and hardy eyewear will be your best option to stay safe while on the water.

Pick a Great Location
When out on the water, we recommend picking a great location. It can be hard to find shade of the water in The Exumas, but if we do we recommend finding a shaded location, one that can help to protect from the wind. The shade will also help in finding some dark places on the water - making it easier to see bonefish.

Stay Quiet
Bonefishing, and fishing in general, always requires silence. But with the sensitivity of bonefish, it’s important to stay silent. Bonefish have incredible hearing, and when conditions aren’t great they are going to be more on edge and more sensitive to any last sounds.

An experienced guide will be even more important in tough conditions and we are here to help! A local expert and experienced guide will not only help you find the best spots, but will keep you safe in the event of further bad weather or turbulent seas.

As always, when you hook a fish while bonefishing remember that you should not hold it out of the water for more than 15 seconds or it could die upon release back into the ocean. If you are struggling at any point while fishing, always ask your guide questions. They are here to help make you bonefishing experience one to remember. No matter what time of year you visit The Exumas, Bonefish Drex has something for you. To learn more about our services, give us a call at 242-356-0243. We look forward to seeing you in the upcoming months - the weather is gorgeous!
